Event Report: Live L’Arc: The L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippine Street Team Second Anniversary Gathering

To commemorate the second anniversary of L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippines’ #LArcMNL campaign, Pinoy L’Arc~en~Ciel fans gathered on 25 May 2014 at Regalia Towers, Cubao for a day of fun-filled games (complete with bananas, chocolates, and marshmallows), amazing cover performances, and non-stop spazzing.

Despite the L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippine Street Team’s (LPST) busy schedules and limited time for preparations, the event, titled, “Live L’Arc”, was still attended by about 30 individuals, and lasted from 1-6pm.

To break the ice, attendees were grouped into two for the game “IntroDon.” Inspired by the game from Shounen Club, members from each of the groups must guess the L’Arc~en~Ciel songs just by listening to their intro, which were played for one second each in the first round and half a second each in the second round. For this game, the first group won, and their prize was an iTunes Gift Card.

The second game is a traditional game among LPST’s events. The Mukimpo Eating Contest! This time around, though, we added a twist. Pitching in the other L’Arc members’ favorite sweets, like marshmallows for hyde and chocolate for yukihiro, we mixed all these in cups, and whoever finishes devouring all these sweets first, gets to take home a L’Arc~en~Ciel poster. The Mukimpo Eating Contest champion for two consecutive years, Raz, was challenged by Lam, Jazz, and Kevin. And in the end, it was Kevin who emerged as the winner.

After the ice breakers, everybody’s pumped up for the performances. Much like last year’s event, performers wowed the crowd with their impeccable renditions of L’Arc~en~Ciel songs.  One-man act Christian Lopez was up first, already setting the bar high with his amazing performances of CHASE and NEW WORLD. Joining him in the performance of flower was Glenn, and Hackt for the Fourth Avenue Cafe.

After Christian’s performance, another staple game in LPST’s events was up: the L’Arc Charades. The crowd was divided into four groups this time around and everybody was required to act out a L’Arc~en~Ciel song title. The game never gets old and had elicited lots of laughter and competitiveness from the crowd. In the end, it was the fourth group that won, taking home sheets from the official L’Arc~en~Ciel letter set.

Next up for the cover performance was Asterysk. Despite having a gig on the previous day, LPST was grateful for their participation in the anniversary event. Their acoustic renditions of Vivid Colors, Niji, and Hitomi no Jyuunin  moved everyone in the Diliman room.

Asterysk’s performance was followed by another game called Blank-e-Oke wherein contestants will have to fill in the missing word/s in My Heart Draws a Dream and X X X. For this game, Michelle Cabahit won, taking home a Seventh Heaven CD single as her prize.

#LArcMNL’s resident band, ROSIER, was the last performer of the day. The crowd sang along to their performances of Anata, Kasou, Pieces, and this year’s International L’Arc~en~Ciel Day song, DIVE TO BLUE.

The event wrapped up with the group picture-taking and raffle-drawing, wherein Avery won a What’s In? issue with Hyde as the cover guy, Lam with the Hurry X’mas single, and Cecille won the Drink it Down single.

Even though it was a Sunday, the LPST is very, very grateful to everyone who went out of their way to join us in our momentous occasion. May the L’Arc~en~Ciel Philippine fandom remain alive and kicking all throughout the year! Until our next event, mata ne! 🙂
